ok ok people some new news is in! The scribe has just released a new article about the up coming "bit'o luck" weekend.

in this article he describes a small fellow he met from a far off realm he describes this character as short infact "no higher than a dwarf" are the words he usues if i remember correctly, he explains that this man is also wearing green clothing (sounds suspiciosly like a lepricorn) and explians to the scribe that he will gift our lands with a "bit'o luck" this weekend. he explains 2 items that might be dropping if we slay beasts in our land this weekend one is a type of ale and the other is a 4 leafed clover. (see items related to lepricorns). it sounds like a fun weekend infact dont think anet have hosted a weekend quite like it before, apart from the pvp weekend when we could get cremme brulee and firewater etc..

anyway heres the link so you can read it yourself

http://www.guildwars.com/community/t...ibe-070315.php

basically i dont know whether this has anything to do with the new game or not but maybe anet are trying to slip us a few hints about what the new game is going to be like. i really dont know, but feel free to read it so we can discuss it together. personally i find it a bit more of a coincidence that a weekend like this is being hosted just around the same time there going to begin giving info about the new game. i think maybe this is an in game lead up type thing kinda like when factions was on the verge of realesing and the two camps for luxons and kurzicks where placed outside lions arch to give everyone a feel about what the nee game was gonna be like.

Essentially, they have tried to condense the joyous, cultural Irish festival of St Patrick's Day into a stereotyping spoof involving beer, ginger people, and/or leprechauns posing as dwarves. It isn't about Chapter 4, I bet, the magazine loaded with info is coming along any day now, no point in being subtle.

Honestly. Us Irish are more than just alcohol-chugging hooligans on Saint Patrick's Day. I think there's a parade of some sort. Can't be sure.

Well it is St Patricks day on the 17th

Doubt it has ANYTHING to do with the new game. it sounds like it is a weekend special designed for the patrion saint of ireland

Question At a Loss

With the upcoming info and all the talk about GW2. I am at a loss if i should keep hammering at this game or not. It is fun and i love it. But do i want to keep puting in the time if it will be for nothing when the next game comes out.

And i know i am jumping the gun with the info not being out yet but the tension is killing me. I have read all the threads. The poll of should we keep the chars or not. The great server in the sky. The ones about should there be nonhuman classes or not. And this keeps me going back from thinking it will be great to the heck with it move on to something else.

I am good with any changes that they make to the game. With the exception of not being able to keep my char. and if i cant i dont want to keep hammering on with him for nothing. The reason i started this game is what i read about a chapter every 6 months and a 10 year run. I am getting the feeling that the carpet is about to be jerked out from under me.

What does everyone here think if the news is its over for this portion of GW.

Keep hammering?

Jump to something else?

Yeah, I'm looking more forward to Aion (http://www.plaync.com/us/games/aion/)
than GW/CH4.. I need a new game, new stuff to do, and a new concept.

1. This happens with every game eventually. Do you still play games you bought 5 years ago? I don't. I enjoyed them fully, but they are in the past.

2. It's a little premature to worry about GW2 and it's effect on GW as the questionable info we have gives it a projected release date of 2009.

My advice is to keep playing GW and enjoying it. Let the future take care of itself. If the servers shut down (NOT as long as ArenaNet shows a profit on them) at some time years away, then, as with older standalone games, gamers will take their memories and move on to the new.

I can certainly understand the thoughts behind this question. I was a litttle thrown with the announcement of new content, but keep in mind that you likely have (at least) a few more months of the current trilogy, plus the play time for the upcoming chapter 4 (GW:EN). That should get you 8 to 12 months of gaming, I would think. Perhaps you should just advance your character(s) with that time line in mind?

Or perhaps you may want to look from a different perspective...

You, as a human, are eventually going to die. Should you go on breathing, knowing that it's a waste of time? After all, what's the point, since you can't take anything with you...?

In my opinion, play the game to the max, as long as you are having fun. As soon as you stop having fun, move on, and don't look back!

Although if I come across ONE leprechaun that tells me "They're magically delicious!" I'll probably pee on my keyboard.

Interesting if the Eye of the North took place in an Emerald Isles type setting. That could be the basis for some stunning graphics. Not only that... but Guild Wars Golf.

I am 100% with you about AION... if it launches before GW2 does and is anywhere close to as neat as it sounds, I will probably jump the GW ship and head on over to the greener pasture.

Not that it will matter too much either way to NCSoft... lol

I personally don't... please do not take my opinions personally but I am not a fan at all of Asian styled games in terms of art and graphics. I could not stand Lineage II and I don't think I will be able to stand AION either. I am not saying that it is bad, I am saying I don't like it at all :\

Any idea if there will be a monthly fee with Aion?

It looks like the next step in Guild Wars, actually.

To each their own of course You might be right that Aion may attract the Lineage II crowd more than the GW, and I guess the GW-style die-hards can stick around for the next generation of games that fit them.

Don't know about the monthly fee... hasn't been an announcement for it as far as I know.

If you enjoy it then why quit? Why do you play in the first place, because it is fun or because it is work? Lets say that GW2 comes out in 2009, you still have 2 years to enjoy playing a game that you enjoy playing.

If you have to start over with a new toon in GW2 ("warrior" now is "fighter", "elementalist" is now "mage" [for example] and thus no bringing the old professions forward) isn't there a certain amount of excitement over a new beginning? I'd have to think so, thus all the people swarming to the new professions as they were released with Factions and Nightfall.

If you play for fun, keep playing.

I was thinking the same thing. The mentality on this forum seems to be that GW is just work. Do you people actually have fun playing the game? I mean, I have become attached to my characters, but it's really because I enjoy playing that I play, not because I want to make them that little bit better. It's kind of sad, really, that people say they're going to quit simply because they might not be able to use their original characters. That makes me think that you just don't enjoy the game enough to be able to be content with a new beginning. And if that is the case, maybe you should leave.

A new beginning won't mean you've wasted your time. The fact that you don't seem to enjoy actually playing the game is what is wasting your time.
